I also have not given an update in a few weeks. I am now 5 weeks out from the revision of my reconstruction. Pretty much meaning I had a VERY painful lift!! It is as painful as the mastectomy. I had the drains back in for two weeks. Come on ladies how much do we LOVE those fantastic drains, that no matter how you try to hide the you look pregnant!!! Lol
Now I have another surgery coming up, kinda nip and tuck if you will to even my girls out. I know they will never be “normal”, I just want them to me my normal. And the CHERRY on top nipples! YES, the big Nip is coming. I was only going to tattoo them on but the further out I get from the big C I want to reconstruct them. Dr is not thrilled because blood flow from radiated side might not be great but he said he won’t tell me no. I have to say my Plastic Surgeon is a Saint! He has the patience of one and just listens to your ideas.
Oh and I forgot to post, IM FOUR YEARS IN REMISSION THIS MONTH! Things are on the up swing for now!
I understand everyone is entitled to their own opinion. So here is mine lol. People! Stop hating on pink in October! The point is to draw attention to how horrible BC is and to get more women having mammos.
Yes, at times it is over kill. But guess what? That over kill has drawn a out pouring of support and attention to this cancer. Without all of that we would not have the advances we have today.
Now Granted seeing the Five Hour Energy with the pink ribbon boggled my mind, isn’t that stuff bad for you lol. Kinda like a pack of Camals all in pink. I Actually was at the store this week and they had beer, yes beer in pink lmao. Nothing goes together then a ice cold beer and breast cancer!! But if catches someone eye and makes them realize they never had a mammo then it was well placed pink.
So, YES , I wear my pink( not my favorite color). If it draws someone’s interest into donating to ACS or to get a mammo then it has served its purpose!! Stop hating on the pink, its is helping to save lives!
On Sunday October 21st I participated in my first Strides Walk to end Breast Cancer. I was able to raise over $2600.00! I am proud to say I surpassed my goal of $1500 by a lot, and I am now a pacesetter with The American Cancer Society! The event was amazing, inspiring and wonderful. Thank you to all my friends family and co-workers who came out to join my “Rack Pack“.
Even though I could be facing breast cancer again (yes, they are now unsure of my biopsy results now), this was something to keep me going. I am glad that I am able to give back to my family of survivors and hopefully save someone elses life. I just pray soon there is a cure for this horrible disease. I met some really amazing women that day and to see a turn out of 20,0000 walkers just blew my mind!!!
I am so proud to have been able to accomplish this just on year after my treatment, and possibly having a to face it again soon.( I will be back with an update on that after my MRI next week and second opinions at Robert Wood Johnson hospital). Yes, Virgina there is a Santa Clause… this year he could be bringing me my new boobs lol. POSITIVE THOUGHTS
I have to say a huge THANK YOU to my husband for wearing pink for me on that day (he is a man’s man lol), and for putting up with all my fundraising talk and all the pink around the house! I promise next year I will go easy on you XOXO.
I FOUGHT LIKE A GIRL, AND WON!!
